ABOUT

Hi, I’m Lavinia

I value working with people who wish to make a serious commitment to their own individuation, personal growth and spiritual transformation. When we share our stories in safe places, shame diminishes and we flourish. You can live a life free from feeling activated by your painful past, a life where you are no longer overwhelmed and triggered, and a life where you feel deeply empowered and free. This is what I want for you.

In Shakespeare’s play, Titus Andronicus, Lavinia is a woman whose tongue and hands were cut off so she couldn’t speak, or write, her truth. For too many years, that was me. I grew up in an environment impacted by intergenerational trauma, divorce, alcohol misuse, war, and interpersonal disharmony and scapegoating. And as an adult, I misused alcohol to self-soothe and numb out and had little, or no sense of self. It took me years until I made the decision that there MUST be another way and found the path of discovery, and had the freedom to create the life I wanted.

I have learnt how to stand in the ways I am different and to embrace my uniqueness. I no longer try to fit in with people, or systems, that don't respect or honour me, in the ways I am different. My validation blooms from within, something I feel passionately about sharing with others. I have found safety and belonging, on the edges of society. I am committed to creating beauty from suffering, to a life of learning, transformation and conflict resolution. I see myself as an edgewalker.

My passion and inspiration comes from collaborating with others, who wish to embrace growth and change in their relationship with themselves and others. This is work we enter into together.

Today I am grateful for my dark night of the soul.

I am also grateful for my partner, who I live with in the Suffolk countryside, together with our rescue French Bulldog, Hilda. We live in an area near to Long Melford, Lavenham, Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds.

Professional Training

I have 17 years of experience working as a depth relational psychotherapist.

Over the years, I have greatly expanded on my soul’s work through studying nature therapy with Martin Jordan at Brighton University, obtaining a degree in addiction at Clouds House and Bath University, and studying shamanism.

I hold an MA in creative writing therapy from the University of Sussex; a degree in addictions therapy; a diploma (highest level) in psycho-spiritual psychotherapy, which I studied in Glastonbury;  PG Cert with Pink Therapy working with diversity and LGBTQ communities and a diploma in Nature Therapy. I am training as a shamanic practitioner, a fourth level Paqo in the Q’ero, Andean tradition. And I am currently researching for my PhD in women, creativity and despair.

I am a published author on shame and trauma and presented my work at the first Trauma conference in Prague. I have many years experience working in the private and public sectors.
