Shamanic practices & how I work

The purpose of our lives is to give birth to the best that is within us

- Marianne Williamson, 1992

I offer a beautiful, authentic and tender weave of psychotherapy, nature therapy and shamanism. You can collaborate with me for the whole weave, one tendril, or a mix of them all. Here’s more on my shamanic practice.

My therapeutic shamanic work seeks to uncover and support you to find your authentic path and self, beyond your conditioning. A sense of belonging and purpose is at the core of my philosophy of working.

This work supports us to remain true to ourself, remembering joy, and supports us to trust our intuition, and to live with intention. I see my shamanic training as a Paqo, as an extension and deepening of my work as a nature therapist. It’s a more intense and reciprocal relationship with nature and deeply Sacred.

Some shamanic work that we can weave into our sessions.

  • New moon and full moon rituals.

  • Creating a medicine bundle, or Mesa - a travelling altar which connects you to your unique landscape and your inner landscape.

  • Sand paintings, or natural mandalas, - creating a visual representation of your inner self, to aid transformational change.

  • Despacho ceremonies - an offering of gratitude, to restore balance and harmony, working with emotional or physical ailments.

  • Ritual and ceremonies: working with the Mythic

  • Shadow work

  • Connecting with the council of female elders

  • Altar work

  • Working with sachamama to heal addictions and ancestral wounds

  • Shamanic journeys to connect with the sacred feminine

  • Shamanic journeys to connect with your spirit animals

  • Journeying with the medicine wheel, the sacred hoop of life

  • Shamanic oracle journeys

Our separation from nature has contributed to the disenchantment of our psyche; Christa Mackinnon puts it well in her book, “Shamanism and Spirituality in Therapeutic Practice”, where she says: “we have forgotten how profoundly the natural environment can nurture and balance us emotionally and mentally, give our bodies pleasure and enchant our souls” and finding ways to reconnect with ourselves through the other than human world can have a profound impact for us.

Overcoming our separation from nature can be enlightening and fun too. My other shamanic offerings can include:

  • Nature walks with a twist; ‘Let something find you’ walks; awareness walks; Being seen by nature walks; brief ceremonies; greeting the directions; working with the medicine wheel and honouring the spirit of a place.

All work is undertaken with a deep sense of reconnecting with nature, remembering ourselves home, as part of nature, and a reconnection with the bigger picture of ourselves and how to practice this in a society consumed by materialism.
